Mother Nature — Heaven's Biggest Fan!

Looking for what inspires you often comes from Nature. It's everywhere, it's beautiful, exciting, sometimes terrifying. It can be dangerous, comes in unlimited shapes, sizes, and quantities; in all colors, locations, and temperatures. And, it's free! Whatever inspiration or experience you are looking for, Mother Nature's got you covered leaving an intangible effect, like this one:

When I was a kid and spent several summers away at camp there was one particular hilltop that stayed with me long after I had returned home. It was a small, sunlit clearing at the top of a long, long flight of wooden and stone steps. The narrow stairway meandered steeply upward, through hardwood trees and around huge boulders smoothed by ions of time and countless children's hands rubbing along the cool, gray surfaces. You knew you were nearing the top when broken rays of bright sun filtered through the leaves of the trees, and you emerged from the shadowy path into the quiet sanctity of Mother Nature's chapel.

The lush green grass beckoned you to toss off your shoes and press your toes into her soft, cool carpet that smelled oh, so sweet and fresh. Long wooden benches outlined a circular perimeter and you were urged to sit quietly and reflect, as an early sunrise crept across the sleepy camp visible far below. This was where I made that first real connection to my inner self. In that moment, Mother Nature introduced me to God.

Everyone has that one special memory, that mental mantra of where they first experienced the spirituality Mother Nature inspires that makes us feel wholly connected to the earth and cosmos. Sometimes the experience brings a depth of understanding forged between the soul hidden deep within and the greater force of the universe we consider to be God. For some, it could be on a boat in the middle of a still lake staring up at the endless stars. For others it might be sitting in a tree stand and watching all of the forest secrets play out beneath you. Or, you might even find an awesome moment in a crowded children's park. Whether it is in the city or on a quiet hilltop, the memory stays with you forever.

I call looking for these incredible moments in one's life, soul searching. You recall them in an instant because they had such a profound impact. We all have an inner sanctuary prepared by Heaven's biggest fan, Mother Nature, herself! If you have a soul searching moment inspired by Nature, would you kindly share yours with me? Send it via my contact page and put it in the message box. I hope to put them in a future blog of my readers' experiences (I'll only use your first name and city). It may just have a special lasting effect on someone else. After all, Mother Nature is all about sharing!
