In the year 2050, worldwide democracies and authoritarian governments collapse, creating economic calamity, military conflicts, and starvation. From the burning embers of chaos, corporations take over and establish a new form of world leadership called Corporate Rule. An elite group of wealthy CEOs takes control and unite as the powerful World Board of Directors.

   Fast forward fifteen years to the life of veteran and inventor, Troy Vincent. He is wrongly accused of murdering the top CEO on the board and is condemned to die in the terrifying Virtual Reality Chambers.  There he meets a young woman accused and condemned for the same murder. Both carry emotional scars from their devastated lives that make them vulnerable to the dangers in the VRCs. Together they must unravel the mystery of who is framing them and why, while battling ferocious demons of their own making. 

    An android, commandeered and forced to work in the cruel and corrupt justice system that has emerged, befriends them. He secretly advises their only hope of survival lies in the hidden keys to the elusive Grief Masters, but no one knows how to find them, and finding a key means digging deep into their shattered inner souls. As the android tries to help them, he faces his own destruction and an unexpected meeting with the ultimate Grief Master.
